Amniotic Membrane is derived from human placental tissue and recovered during live, scheduled cesarean section births from pre-consenting mothers. Here at Yukon Eyecare we use two different types of amniotic membranes depending on where your eye health journey is at.
Prokera® is a combination medical device used by eye doctors around the world for anti-inflammation, anti-scarring and promoting healing of damaged eye surfaces. It contains the only FDA-cleared cryopreserved amniotic membrane, which supports the corneal-healing process without harmful side effects.
Apollo™ is an amniotic membrane product which comes in discs of various sizes. Apollo is comfortable to wear and will be covered with a bandage contact lens after placement on your eye. The apollo amniotic membrane will incorporate and dissolve into your cornea over the course of 3-5 days during which your condition should improve.
